Julia Kermode, FCSA Chief Executive

Julia Kermode is Chief Executive of the Freelancer and Contractor Services Association (FCSA), the market-leading professional membership body for umbrella employers, contractor accountants and CIS payroll service providers that specialise in supporting the contingent workforce.  She took up her role in March 2014, bringing with her 14 years of experience and expertise in association membership and professional bodies. Since joining FCSA, Julia has successfully driven unprecedented growth during a period of significant change and today FCSA represents 60+ members supporting over 130,000 contractors.

Julia has significant knowledge and insight into issues affecting the contingent workforce, particularly employment status, rights, financial and tax implications.  In her role at FCSA, Julia actively lobbies for the government and policymakers to properly consider and support the 7.3m individuals who work independently as self-employed professionals. Julia has a proven track record and credibility as a regular commentator in both national, regional and specialist press.

Prior to working for FCSA, Julia was CEO at a variety of non-profit organisations where she relished supporting members, lobbying and campaigning.  When not developing new ideas, Julia spends much of her time ensconced in the world of politics and current affairs, keeping track of developments, lobbying policymakers on behalf of FCSA’s members and championing the important role of the whole recruitment industry.

Julia started her career in medical professional bodies and early achievements included influencing health policy developments, profile raising, business development and increasing membership.
