How to Join

FCSA Compliance

To join as an accredited FCSA Accredited Member, applicants need to demonstrate compliance with the FCSA Code of Compliance.  You will need to provide documentary evidence supporting this, which will be independently tested by FCSA approved assessors.

All FCSA Code Assessors are either Chartered Accountants or Regulated Solicitors, and have at least five years demonstrable experience of specialising in the freelance sector.  You can choose from the list below:

  • BDO and Brabners
  • Ernst & Young
  • Saffery Champness and Brabners

Our code of compliance covers 3 business models: umbrella, accountancy and CIS/self-employed.  To become an FCSA Accredited Member, all relevant aspects of your business need to be compliant.

The cost of full FCSA Accredited Membership is dependent on the size of your business and the number of models you operate.  Fees for membership and the compliance review start at £10,000.

FCSA Associate Member

To become an FCSA Associate Member, you need to agree to the FCSA Charter and confirm that your business is run by Fit & Proper Persons.  The Charter sets out the minimum standards we expect any operator within the sector to uphold, and that businesses are operating legally.  Associate Members benefit from our trade body activities, including access to information, expert advice, market intelligence, lobbying, technical updates and much more.

Associate Member fees start at just £1500 per annum, can you afford not to join?
